My last day of the 30 Days of Positive Thought was officially Wednesday, however, bloop was doing something weird (saying that my account couldn't be found when I tried to log in) so I wrote my entry at journalcommunity and then that site went down...then the rest of the week was a bit of a blur so I didn't get back online to re-write that entry.

So here's the conclusion of my 30 Days of Positive Thought

Day 27 (Sun May 5, 2008) Wasn't on-call since I had extended family in town

Day 28 (Mon May 6, 2008) I got to leave work at 4:30

Day 29 (Tues May 7, 2008) I didn't apologize for something that wasn't my fault (seems small, but I apologize to everyone for every little thing - even helping sometimes - so that was a big thing for me!)

Day 30 (Wed May 8, 2008) I got an encouraging e-mail from one of my bosses about doing such a great job (which was really nice after Tuesday's crappy day) and I got to feeling better (I'd been feeling terrible Mon-about half of Wed)

Yay.....I did it, I made it through the challange (even if writing about it was slightly delayed)

The first of last week sucked. I didn't feel well, then Tuesday was rough....but I won't really get into why, Wednesday I started to feel better but was put behind with my work so the day was spent feeling about 70% better and having to play catch up.

Thursday and Friday though weren't too bad. I was feeling 90% better on Thursday and was my old self by Friday. Though I didn't push myself because I didn't want to make myself sick again or catch something else.

Saturday I was served breakfast in bed by Chris and Bas! I was impressed that Chris got up so early to do it, I was actually still asleep when he brought my tray of yummy food. They thought of things to make/serve that spelled MOM. Muffin, Omelette, Mango-Orange Juice. It was really sweet.

Chris also let me open my Mother's Day presents a day early! That in itself was a gift. Those that know me really well know that I don't care for having to wait for presents.

The gifts from him and Bas were, as always, very thoughtful and touching.

I've been wanting to start collecting some Willow Tree figurines (I must admit it was Robin who introduced those to me in her entries and then when I saw them in a store I completely understood the charm)

so Chris got me the Mother and Son figure

and the With Affection figure

He also got me a box of Godiva Truffles

The rest of the day was spent running errands. We ate lunch at this sandwich place called Lee's Sandwiches (apparently there are a lot in California, 2 in Texas, 1 in Arizona and 1 here in Oklahoma City) they serve a wide varity of sandwiches and smoothies. They also have very good homemade ice cream. Well after we ate we decided to get some ice cream there. Chris got coffee flavored tirrimisu and I got hazelnut ice cream.

Bas got durian ice cream.

Durian for those that don't know is a very pungent-smelling fruit that can be found in Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and Malaysia (I remember it from watching an episode of Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" show when he visited Vietnam, I believe).

Here's a picture of durian (not in ice cream form)

I knew Bas wasn't going to like it but let him get it anyway....it's not everyday you see something like that and I've heard that durian is banned in some places because of the way it smells so I was curious.

It was hands down the grossest thing I've ever tasted. The best way to describe it was like melon mixed with a sweaty old gym sock....and an aftertaste something like blue cheese. Chris tried it and agreed as well. And Bas after 3 adventuresome spoonfuls also concured that he didn't like it all that much.

After lunch we dropped off some boxes at a thrift store and then went to the pet store to get some food and such for our managerie-o-pets. Then we came home and worked on some more spring cleaning and then went to dinner with my sister to Zio's. The wait was hella long but worth it. Chris and I made it an early night.

Today Chris had to work at Barnes and Nobles from 8:30a to 3:00p. So while he was at work I did some more spring cleaning as well as normal housework. When he got home we made a grocery list and went to the store. We did a BBQ meant for our moms but my mom was hit by what sounds like a tummy bug so she stayed at home. We ended up having my mom-in-law, my sister, brother-in-law and a couple of neighbor kids (who kind of invited themselves) to dinner. It was nice though. We got paper plates and plastic cups and didn't really spend a lot of time cooking so we got to visit more with our guests. It's been a long time since we've entertained at our house so it was nice to be able to do that again....I plan on trying to do that more often in the near future.

And as if this entry isn't long enough already I'm going to do a Mommy survey.

1) How long have you been a Mom?
7 years and a couple of months

2) How many children call you Mommy?
1

3) Girl? Boy? or both?
Boy

4) Did you know what you were having?
Sort of....I wanted it to be a surprise but the ultrasound tech said she thought we were having a boy...and we did

5) How old were you when you became a Mom?
18

6) How long were you in labor?
14 hours

7) What's your favorite thing about being a Mom?
All the things I learn from being a mom, it's amazing how much kids have to teach adults when you think about it.

8) What's your least favorite thing?
being talked back to so much/not being listened to

9) Do you want more kids?
I'd like 1 more

10) Do you plan on having more soon?
Yes

12) How many times have you been pee'd on?
A couple....the first time was a big shock.

Several

14) Is your child named after anyone?
Nope

15) How did you come up with their names?
It's just a name I really liked

16) When your child gets in trouble, who is the bad guy?
Both of us...if Sebastian gets in trouble he's pretty much equally mad at us both

19) Bedtime routine?
Bath, brush teeth, read book, in bed at 8:00pm

Sort of...I put polish on them about a month ago so it's kind of chipped but I haven't taken it off yet either.

21) Last movie you saw in the theater?
Veggietales: The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything

22) One thing you will not give up just because you're a mom?
Time for myself. Although it was about the time Bas was 3 years old when that could be worked into my day. It's important for my well-being...and his.

24) One thing you did give up now that you're a mom?
A real hair style. I seem to put my hair in ponytails anymore and I swore that wouldn't happen, but it did.

25) When the kid is napping, you are?
Bas doesn't nap....he stopped doing that about 4 years ago.

26) Where is your child(ren) ?
He's in bed.

I've been slacking a little with not updating on my Days of Positive thought, but I am still doing it, I'm going to write days 23-26 right now.....

Day 23 Wed (4/30/2008) Positives: Payday and I got rid of a small mountain of old clothes (as part of the Spring Cleaning)

Day 24 Thurs (5/1/2008) Positive: Went home after eating a very large dinner, was completely lazy and didn't feel guilty at all about it

Day 25 Fri (5/2/2008) Positive: Made myself a mojito and soaked in a hot bubble bath after a taxing day and it really really relaxed me!

Day 26 Sat (5/3/2008) Positives: Had a lazy morning where I got to sleep in and then watch a bunch of TV, went to my mom's house and got to catch up with extended family, watched old home movies from reunions and such, and there was cake!

* * *
Positive for yesterday:

I started my Spring Cleaning

Positive for today:

I finally did it! I got up this morning and exercised, it's out of the way and wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be!

* * *
Today was great!

Positives:

*We went to the Arts Festival Downtown
*Didn't get sunburnt because I remembered to slather sunblock on everyone (and brought the container with us to reapply as needed)
*Ate lots of good food (but none that was good for us)
*Oggled many interesting art pieces
*Bought a print for our bedroom
*Bas painted a pot that turned out great
*We went to Garden Ridge to get a frame for our new print and ended up spending a lot of money
*Re-arranged furniture in our bedroom (since we got a lot of new stuff for our room) I'll try and take pictures sometime this week after we get it cleaned up and whatnot.

* * *
Positives for today:

*I cleaned the inside and outside of my car (it looks wonderful)
*Went bike riding for the first time in about a month (I think)
*Got 4 new (on-sale, cheap) shirts at Target (though it's because I needed short sleeved shirts in a larger size...so it's not exactly a good thing)
*Ate dinner on our patio because the weather was simply gorgeous today

* * *
Positive for today:

It's Friday!!!

* * *
Positive for today:

I went roller skating tonight with a co-worker and had a lot of fun!

* * *
Day 15 Positive:

Another one of my submissions to icanhascheezburger.com made it to the voting page (which makes a total of 4).

Day 16 Positive:

I'm having a low-key night at home and plan on going to bed at a decent time (after a terrible bout of insomnia Monday night and then staying up waayyy too late last night I really need to get to bed early)

Today has been hard to think on the positive side. I spent more then half of my day feeling tired and sick to my stomach and working....and Chris and I have decided to put a hold on Project Baby for the time being...

But

Here are the positives

*Left work at 4:30 today (it's my week to get to leave at 4:30 and it rarely happens)
*Got a lot of housework done
*Watched Juno (which was a good movie but didn't help with my over-emotional state for the past few weeks)

* * *
I saw this video while looking up some positive affirmations and wanted to share it because I thought it was beautiful. Even if you're not a fan of "The Secret" (I can honestly say I've never read the book/seen the videos nor do I really plan to) this is uplifting and I really needed something uplifting today.

Positives for today:

Got to sleep in

Today was sunny and warm

On my walk/jog at Lake Hefner I had an old man say, "This is what heaven must be like." I also saw some turtles sunbathing on a rock near the end of my exericising

* * *
Positive for today: I got to leave work before 5:30 on a Friday! Otherwise it was just another day.

Today's positive thought is inspired by the awesome Mary J Blige and her song Just Fine which helped me get through the last 2 sets of sit ups tonight:

"Feels so good, when you’re doing all the things that you want to do
Get the best out of life, treat yourself to something new
Keep your head up high
In yourself, believe in you, believe in me
Having a really good time, I’m not complaining
And I’m a still wear a smile if it raining
I got to enjoy myself regardless
I appreciate life, I’m so glad I got mine
So I like what I see when I’m looking at me
When I’m walking past the mirror"

* * *
Positives for today:

*Left desk at office cleaned off for 7th consecutive (work)day in a row

*Got in some awesome exercise at Lake Hefner (and sit ups at home)

*Krystal got me ice cream from Braums

*Going to bed and snuggle with Hubby (we rarely go to bed at the same time)

* * *
Positives for today:

*Today was payday
*I did really good with portion control today
*I've decided to start a weightloss diary, not sure if it's going to be online or on paper yet though

* * *
Positives for today:

*Made an appointment with the va-jay-jay doctor.
*Got a few things off my chest about a co-worker to my boss.
*Found all the parts to our free weights so I can add a little weight lifting to my routine.

* * *
Many more positives for today then yesterday.

*I wasn't on-call today!
*Got up this morning and did Taebo.
*With the stress of prom off Chris (it was last night, he helped put it all together and then stayed to chaperone so he got home super late), he was in a better mood today. He had to go to Barnes and Nobles at 2:45 though but they close earlier on Sundays so I'll see him a little after 10 tonight.
*Bas has been better behaved and has been helpful (though not exactly by choice) with chores.
*I've gotten so much done today and will actually be able to relax the rest of the evening, the only things I have left to do tonight are to make my bed when the sheets are dry and to make sure Bas takes a bath.
*I made french toast for dinner. I'm not sure why, but I just love having breakfast foods for dinner every once in a while.

* * *
Positive for today: I went to Lake Hefner this morning and jogged 30 minutes (which I haven't done in about a year and a half!) and walked 30 minutes. It was a sunny day and there's just something about being near a large body of water that makes me feel more centered.

Otherwise today was filled with Bas being a pain in the butt, Chris being stressed and pissy, and me having to tear apart half my living room to wrangle an escaped rat (Valentine) who is now hanging out under my chaise, once I get her out from under there I'm having a little wine and going to bed.

Oh also my strange period seems to have ended finally today so there's another positive.

* * *
Positve things for today:

I've been at my job offically for 1 year today
Annette got me a cookie at the Deli
I painted my nails a pretty sparkly pink
My abs are burning from actually working them out the past few days

Otherwise I'm tired, I'm on day 11 of a period (which is the longest period I've ever had) and I'm completely over the new staffing coordinator at work. I tried to make an appointment with an OB/GYN today and was told a request would be sent to the doctor and I'd be called back. That's a first.

Anywho, I'll write more later, I'm going to bed now.

Yes, I already have some positives this morning!

All new of my favorite shows are airing tonight, My Name is Earl, The Office, Scrubs and 30 Rock!
